The gun-grabbing kiddos from Parkland have been making the news like wild. They’re on a quest to rid every ‘Murican citizen of their pesky kiddie-killing boomsticks. One particular student activist had an idea for a hip new accessory to help spread the gospel of a gunless world.
I don’t think she thought this one through:
Yeah, I’m going to go out on a limb and assume these kids skipped history class.
Before you break out the hammer and nails to crucify me, I’m not saying the kids are Literally Hitler. I’m not a leftist, after all. I know their choice of armbands wasn’t intentional and they’re copying student hippies from the ’60s. Alls I’m saying is a group of armband-clad under aged lemmings marching in the name of big government isn’t the best look, regardless of their intentions.
Apparently, I’m not alone in thinking that either:
Although she’s since deleted the tweet, @davidhogg111’s sister wants students to identify with their movement by wearing armbands. It’s apparent these kids know as little about history as they do the Constitution. https://t.co/kmyyEFAaKt

She didn't know the connotations of those armbands….didn't know the history…but by all means….let them vote!🤦🏻♀️

Armbands, gun control, and socialism. Someone get me a history book because this sounds oddly familiar.

You might have a little trouble getting Jewish Americans to embrace this look. Do you have some shiny jackboots and brown shirts to go with it? Guessing maybe you skipped history class while you were shilling for the @DNC… pic.twitter.com/WfA4jL9y65

After the backlash, the student deleted the tweet and issued an apology:
I am so sorry if I offended anyone with my former tweet, I had no intention of bringing any bad connotation to what we are trying to do which is using our past as in the Tinker vs Des Moine case to create a better future for us all.

We have to cut the kids a little slack on account of their ignorance. They lack experience and perspective to understand the complexities of issues and their actions. This is also why it’s silly to let them dictate American gun policy.
Also, while we’re on the subject, armbands, ribbons, and other grandstanding gestures don’t do anything for a cause. I have yet to find a single person who changed their opinion on a subject thanks to a clever Twitter hashtag. Facts and stats, on the other hand, are effective like Michael Moore taste-testing for Little Debbie. Unfortunately for anti-gunners, facts to back up their views are scarce. Which leads to the dependence on superficial gestures. Which might accidentally harken back to Nazis.
Younglings are impulsive. The dive right into an initiative without ever stopping to think if it’s a good idea or not. Hence, poor fashion choices that unintentionally make the kids look like foot soldiers for the Fourth Reich.
Some advice to the kids from an old man. Ditch the MSNBC and pick up a history book for a change.
Speaking of history:
OMG…skip to 7:00 on the video to hear just how clueless these kids are! We better start making our voices heard people.
