House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R) recently highlighted his trip to the southern border and criticized the Biden administration’s failure to address the crisis.

While holding his weekly briefing Thursday, the Republican lawmaker shared that he saw the massive facilities overflowing with illegal immigrants. He noted that officials from both Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Health and Human Services Department appeared overwhelmed by the influx of people hoping to enter the country.

McCarthy said officials told him 10 percent of those who cross the border have tested positive for COVID-19, which is creating a health risk for agents and sacrificing the efforts of communities to curb the spread of the virus. He also said he still has not heard back from the Biden administration to hold a sit down talk about the crisis.

McCarthy also said Joe Biden has failed to send a clear message to migrants. Instead, the minority leader asserted Biden is trouncing the country to push his $1.9 trillion stimulus package.
