The Trump administration recently highlighted its pro-life efforts while continuing to push for ending abortion in the U.S. On Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence and Human Health and Services Secretary Alex Azar spoke to a group of more than 20 pro-life groups during the ‘Life is Winning‘ event in D.C.

The Vice President noted the administration has been consistent in its belief that “every person is worth protecting”.

“I’ve long believed that a society can be judged by how it deals with its most vulnerable: the aging, the infirmed, the disabled and the unborn,” he stated.

Pence touted the administration’s accomplishments, including the President’s appointment of more than 200 conservative judges. This is a move that many advocates hope sparks a greater wave of anti-abortion laws.

Additionally, Azar announced the administration would withhold $200 million in Medicaid from California for imposing universal abortion coverage mandates on health insurance in the state.

“We have informed California that this policy clearly violates federal conscious laws, but the state refuses to fix the issue and comply,” stated the secretary.

The move would take place in the first quarter of 2021. Azar added, the administration plans to withhold an additional $200 million each quarter following unless the state amends its policies.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has not yet responded to the announcement.

Meanwhile, Pence and Azar thanked the advocacy groups for their support of President Trump while noting they played a huge role in the President’s core base.
