Vice President Mike Pence welcomed America’s newest citizens at a naturalization ceremony in D.C. this week. On Thursday, he offered his congratulations and praise for the 16 people from 12 different countries who are now official U.S. citizens.

During his speech, the vice president touched on both the coronavirus and the protests taking place all over the country.
“You come at a time of unique challenges in America and across the wider world as we deal with an unprecedented pandemic,” stated Pence. “…You will continue to be a part of a story that demonstrates the resilience and the strength of the American people.”
He also highlighted the robust June jobs report, which he said shows that the U.S. is recovering.
