Vice President Mike Pence returned to work Monday after one of his staffers tested positive for coronavirus. He will continue to fulfill his duties at the White House despite calls for him to self-isolate.

A spokesman for the vice president made that announcement Sunday and stated that Pence will “continue to follow the advice of the White House medical unit.” This came after his press secretary, Katie Miller, tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday and was seen speaking to reporters without a mask just days prior.

Pence’s office said he and the president have been tested for the virus every single day. Both leaders have been negative each time. The White House has also increased containment efforts and will not allow any person to come into contact with Pence or President Trump without first testing negative for the virus.

Other White House officials, including National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, CDC Director Robert Redfield and FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn have self-quarantined after coming into contact with Miller.

A valet for the president also tested positive for COVID-19 last week. When asked about the recent COVID-19 cases in the White House, President Trump responded by saying he’s not worried.
