Georgia’s Republican controlled state election board has voted to require election workers to hand-count ballots on election night.

On Friday, the board ruled in favor of the change in a 3-to-2 vote.

Advocates applauded the ruling, saying it will ensure every vote is counted accurately.

During a rally last month, President Donald Trump hailed the 3-member Republican majority as “pitbulls fighting for honest.”

However, opponents argued that the hand-counting rule could delay results, fatigue workers, make mistakes and undermine security of the paper ballots.

The attorney general’s office previously warned that the decision to hand-count ballots was “likely illegal.”

The election board rejected hand-counting ballots from early voting 4-to-1.
