Dozens of prominent conservatives are urging the Senate to vote down Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Health and Human Services Department.
In a scathing memo to congressional Republicans on Monday, more than 100 Republicans called Xavier Becerra an extremist nominee who will carry the agenda of liberal dark money groups. They also said the California Democrat has not shown the judgment or respect for human life necessary to lead the agency.
🚨Xavier Becerra is a radical pick to lead @HHSGov. He has no experience to fight COVID-19 and his support of Medicare-for-All & taxpayer funding for abortion leave him unfit to hold a position of public trust. 👇 my letter w/ @SenTomCotton to @POTUS asking he withdraw his nom. pic.twitter.com/MGhBLqySEG

“The president nominated Attorney General Becerra because he felt he was exactly the right person to lead the Department of Health and Human Services at this time,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
They went on to warn lawmakers the agency will become weaponized to partisan and destructive ends if he is confirmed.
