2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has made his highly anticipated return on Elon Musk’s social app, X, formerly Twitter.

Trump’s hiatus began after his account was suspended on Twitter following the January 6th protest at the U.S. Capitol in 2021. The previous Twitter owner, Jack Dorsey, had suspended Trump’s account and accused the former president of inciting violence.
However, “Dorsey [has now] called the ban a mistaken ‘business decision,’ and reiterated Musk’s belief that permanent bans are inappropriate in cases outside of illegal activity or spam,” Axios reported.
The previous post he made displayed a picture of his mugshot, which was accompanied with the captions “ELECTION INTERFERENCE” and “NEVER SURRENDER!”
Musk reinstated Trump’s account after acquiring Twitter and rebranding the platform, which was renamed to “X.”
Meanwhile, the former president’s first post since returning to the social platform was a two and a half minute campaign ad, which highlighted the federal harassment that Trump has faced, including the federal Mar-A-Lago search conducted in 2022 as well as the recent indictments from the Justice Department.
“They want to take away my freedom, because I will never let them take away your freedom. They want to silence me, because I will never let them silence you. They’re not coming after me. They’re coming after you, and I just happen to be standing in their way,” said Trump in the video, which was posted to X.
Trump’s initial post after returning to X currently has nearly 17 million views. The series of posts also included an advertisement for an interview that Trump will partake in with X owner Elon Musk on his platform.
Musk maintained that the interview will be “unscripted with no limits on subject matter.”
It is slated to take place on Monday night at 8 p.m. eastern time.
