The House passed a vote to censure and remove GOP Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) from his committees after posting a meme video depicting him fighting various members of Congress as cartoon characters.
In a 223-207 vote, the House passed the resolution on Wednesday, with only two Republicans voting in favor. Gosar is the first sitting House member to be censured in over a decade and will now be stripped from his committee assignments.
In a meeting on Tuesday, Gosar apologized for posting the video and clarified he wasn’t advocating for violence. Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was quick to point out the left’s hypocrisy when New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D) posted a tweet regarding the Kyle Rittenhouse trial.

McCarthy further defended the Arizona representative, saying his actions did not merit the punishment he received.
