“This is a humanitarian crisis, its a public health crisis, it’s a national security crisis and right now Joe Biden and Kamala Harris refuse to do a damn thing about it.”
— Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas)
Republican senators said they have tried to give the Joe Biden solutions for the border crisis, but all they have heard back is “crickets.” The GOP lawmakers slammed the current administration for their lack of action at the southern border.
During a news conference on Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said their are three decisions that have driven the crisis and they all occurred in the first days Biden took office.
“Immediately halting construction of the border wall, that happened on day one,” stated the Texas lawmaker. “Reinstituting the failed policy of Catch and Release, that also happened on day one. And most indefensibly, ending the incredibly successful Remain in Mexico international agreement.”
Meanwhile, he said the Department of Homeland Security is allegedly preparing for up to 400,000 immigrants to cross the border this month due to Biden and Kamala Harris refusing to enforce the law. He added, they have seen “the highest rate of illegal immigration in 21 years.”
Additionally, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) said as the border crisis continues, criminal organizations are profiting.
“The greatest beneficiary of the Biden border crisis are the criminal organizations that are getting richer by the day, charging fees to smuggle people into the United States,” he explained. “And they’ve learned that if you overwhelm the Border Patrol with unaccompanied children or just sheer numbers like we’ve seen at the border, that that will then open lanes into the United States across the border with which to smuggle illegal drugs.”
The problem, Cornyn said, is the Biden administration knows what to do to fix the problem, but instead they do nothing and blame Republicans.
“The President’s press secretary said Republicans have given speeches, but offered no solutions,” stated the GOP senator. “…I have introduced a bill called the Bipartisan Border Solutions Act to try to give the administration some place to land if, in fact, they’re actually interested in engaging and doing anything about it. So far, all we here from the administration is crickets.”
Today, I joined Sen. @JohnCornyn & 36 senators in pressing @SecMayorkas to address reports that thousands of unlawful Haitian migrants in Del Rio, TX were released into the US instead of facing removal as the admin had previously pledged. https://t.co/f3PafoQQDO

Other senators said the administration is letting the border wall go to waste and that the problem goes beyond the southern border.
“This is not just a problem at the southern border, this is a problem that affects all 50 states,” stated Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). “And the President of the United States takes an oath to uphold the Constitution to enforce the laws and he’s not doing it.”
