A recent fire burning at the top of a building under construction in Washington, D.C. could be seen for miles around. First responders said the fire started Thursday morning at the top of the future Metro headquarters.

Around 100 firefighters responded, putting the fire out after less than an hour. Fire officials said the blaze was contained to the roof and appeared accidental. Metro released a statement saying, “we do not anticipate any significant impacts to our plan to transition workers into the building next year.”

However, images of the smoke billowing caused some to panic due to its proximity to the Capitol Building. One firefighter suffered minor injuries, while a second was hospitalized for a non-life-threatening medical condition.
