Dr. Ron Paul, a former congressman, has been taking aim at COVID-19 regulations. He recently released evidence suggesting lockdowns were ineffective against the virus to begin with.
While recently speaking on the Liberty Report, Dr. Paul cited a study that found the full reopening of Texas’ economy did not affect the rate of new COVID-19 infections. He said calls for lockdowns and mask mandates have been proven unscientific as well as harmful.
The change in direction presents a stark contrast to Joe Biden’s attack on Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-Texas) decision as “Neanderthal thinking.” In addition to Biden, Texas Democrat Party chair Gilberto Hinojosa warned this would kill Texans. On top of that, the director of the CDC, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, warned of an impending doom just weeks before the state began to reopen.
Dr. Paul also highlighted the questionable funding of “gain of function” research in China by the National Institutes of Health. This term is used to describe medical research that alters an organism or disease in a way that increases pathogenesis, transmissibility or host range. He stressed that it’s “mad scientist” research to weaponize animal viruses against humans and the U.S. must not participate in such dangerous experiments.
Dr. Paul said medical bureaucrats should be held accountable for economic losses and for denying patients safe treatments such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.
“As soon as Donald Trump mentioned that hydroxychloroquine might be effective against the virus, the ‘experts’ circled the wagons,” he noted. “It was banned for use until it later was quietly un-banned.”
The former congressman asserted that lawmakers should ensure such government overreach does not happen again.
“The politicization of medicine is anti-science, anti-human and anti-American,” he stated. “Will those who needlessly died due to this politicization finally get their justice?”
In the meantime, Dr. Paul said Americans should question why their freedoms were taken away by COVID-19 lockdowns in the first place.
