Joe Biden has touted mask-wearing as a patriotic responsibility even for fully vaccinated Americans. During an interview on Friday, Biden discussed the new CDC guidance, which loosens face mask guidelines.

The rules indicate fully vaccinated people no longer have to wear a face covering outside if they’re engaging in activities alone or in small gatherings. However, Biden has maintained he will continue to wear a mask outside despite the agency’s relaxed rules.

“It’s a small precaution to take that has a profound impact,” Biden said. “It’s a patriotic responsibility for God’s sake!”

Biden said he encourages other Americans to wear masks indefinitely as well, whether or not they are vaccinated.
