A New York man faced charges after a match on a dating app exposed his involvement in the January 6 Capitol breach. The DOJ filed charges against New York resident Robert Chapman.
This came after Chapman bragged about his involvement in the Capitol protests with someone on the dating platform, Bumble.
The messages showed Chapman admitting he “stormed the Capitol” and “made it all the way to Statuary Hall.” During the exchange, he also boasted about being interviewed by the media.
The Bumble user immediately screenshotted the messages and turned them over to authorities.
According to reports, investigators said they matched Chapman’s Bumble profile photo to body camera footage from cops inside the U.S. Capitol. He has since been charged with four misdemeanors.
