Republican lawmakers said illegal aliens must be subjected to DNA testing in order to prevent child smuggling from Mexico.

A group of senators, led by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), proposed a legislation on Wednesday, saying DNA testing will make sure family units coming across the border are actually related.

This came amid claims that many migrants are bringing other people’s children to receive immigration benefits in the U.S. Additionally, some smugglers are posing as parents of the children to get into the U.S.

“Adult migrants are making arrangements with cartels and smugglers to borrow children,” Blackburn stated. “They claim kinship and use that relationship to bolster a fraudulent asylum claim, and what do they do when they’ve gotten what they want? They send the child back across the border to start the entire nightmarish process with another stranger, that is correct.”

Blackburn went on to say illegal minors are often forced into drugs and prostitution and DNA testing would stop that.
