Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) said Joe Biden’s “neanderthal” comment shows he thinks conservatives are stupid. The Republican spoke to One America News Network on Thursday and said he is not surprised by Biden’s words. He stated the comments were “typical liberal elitism.”

He noted Florida never issued a mask mandate, but let people and businesses decide how to protect themselves. Waltz said it is the Democrats who have imposed stupid policies amid the pandemic that have caused more harm.

He added schools in blue states remain closed even though the CDC said it’s safe to return to in-person learning amid other missteps.

“You know, it’s stupid to force people to eat in tents outside, but not allow them to eat inside,” Waltz said. “I think the stupidest thing of all — perhaps the most ‘neanderthal’ policy of all — was to allow honorable seniors to be exposed to those with COVID in nursing homes in New York.”

Waltz said the pandemic underscored the difference between conservatives’ belief in individual freedom and Democrats’ preference of D.C. bureaucrats calling the shots.
