Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Biden will meet with local leaders to discuss relief and recovery efforts, as well as “the incredible resilience shown by the people of Texas.” Biden approved a major disaster declaration in Texas over the weekend, amid widespread outages which left millions without power.
Tonight, I called Governor Greg Abbott to discuss the ongoing situation in Texas and identify ways we can support the state’s recovery from this storm. I made clear to the Governor that I’ll work relentlessly to get his state what they need. pic.twitter.com/UBwH8DMep2

“He wants to go and show his support,” Psaki stated. “He also is fully aware of the footprint of a president of the United States and everything that comes with that, traveling to a disaster area.”
The White House said Biden has been in close contact with state and local officials in Texas to monitor recovery efforts. He is also planning to visit a health care center where COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed.
