Mexico strong-armed the Biden administration into admitting thousands of migrants into the U.S. in an apparent end to the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.  On Wednesday, Mexican authorities shut down shelters for Central American migrants by citing COVID concerns, which essentially forced migrants to sleep in the streets.

Additionally, the Mexican government stopped accepting migrants who were turned away from the U.S. border under the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.

“We are sleeping on the pavement, under the weather of the cold, exposing ourselves to dangers as well,” Francis Ovidio Quintanilla, a Honduran migrant in Mexico, stated. “And we try to endure this situation that we are going through.”

Mexican officials believe those migrants should enter the U.S. as Joe Biden reinstated the ‘Catch and Release‘ policy. Thousands of migrants are still trying to enter the U.S. and hoping for a path to U.S. citizenship, which was promised by Joe Biden.
