Three teenagers in Colorado face murder charges in connection with a house fire that killed five people in Denver last summer. Authorities arrested two 16-year-old boys and one 15-year-old boy at their homes Wednesday, following a six-month investigation.

The fire happened back in August of 2020 and killed five members of a family who were part of the city’s Senegalese community.

Images captured on surveillance cameras showed the three hooded and masked suspects leaving the scene in a dark car. Authorities were able to make the arrests with the help of the Denver Fire Department, ATF and Secret Service.

“While we are saddened,” Chief Paul Pazen stated. “We are also thankful that those who allegedly committed this crime were brought to justice and placed in custody.”

According to the Denver Police Department, the fire was intentionally set, but the killings were not a hate crime. The teens face multiple charges, including five counts of murder and arson.
