According to reports on Thursday morning, high-level officials said the move could be ‘warranted’ per the Special Counsel Statute. Republicans have been urging the department to appoint a special counsel to ensure the investigation into Hunter Biden’s tax affairs continues.
President Trump has also signaled that he is in favor of appointing someone to the position.
