An aide to California Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) attempted to defend the governor after he broke his own social distancing guidelines.

On Friday, Gov. Newsom’s Communications Director Nathan Click claimed Newsom did nothing wrong when he attended a birthday party of more than 10 people.

He said the party was held in an outdoor area of a local restaurant that follows different guidelines.

This came as the California governor issued social distancing guidelines for the holiday season, limiting the size of parties to up to two households.
