Business owners in New York City are slamming state leaders amid tighter restrictions on dine-out services.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said starting Friday all restaurants, bars and gyms will close at 10 p.m. This comes as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise in the state.
The Democrat claimed contract tracing efforts have led health officials to several main areas where the virus is spreading.
“Bars, restaurants, gyms, house parties…that’s where its coming from, primarily,” he stated. “And those are the ones that we can address.”
However, the news has disappointed those in the hospitality industry who have been hit hard by the pandemic’s economic challenges. Food only services for pick-up and delivery will be allowed to continue, but all liquor sales must stop after 10 p.m.
Additionally, gyms must also close at 10 p.m. and New York will limit parties at private residents to 10 people or less unless the household itself has more people.
Staten Island will be labeled a “yellow zone,” which requires schools to test students and faculty weekly. It also limits houses of worship to 50 percent capacity.
The governor said similar restrictions will be put in place in New Jersey to stop residents from crossing state lines in order to gather in large groups.
Staten Island council member Joe Borelli took to social media, stating he will have more than 10 people in his house and will be bringing family from New Jersey on Thanksgiving despite the restrictions.
I’ll be having more than 10 ppl at my house on Thanksgiving. My address is public record. Some family will come from (gasp!) New Jersey.
Kids will see their grandparents, cousins will play in the yard, sis in law will bring strawberry rhubarb pie, & a turkey will be overcooked.

Meanwhile, the New York City Hospitality Alliance is calling for compensation for businesses effected by the new lockdown orders.
