Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) is implementing another round of COVID-19 restrictions for what is now the third time. In a press briefing Wednesday, he announced three new provisions.

First, each business is required to have a face covering notice at the front of their store. Also, stores are to be held responsible for their employees and patrons wearing masks at all times. Lastly, a government agency will be conducting regular inspections.

DeWine claimed the new restrictions are necessary due to a recent uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state.

“We are now at the most crucial phase of this pandemic, we’re in the midst of our third wave in Ohio,” said the governor. “In the spring the virus first surged…we shut things down…Ohioans did what they had to do…we flattened the curve and we were able to open back up.”

The new guidelines also include additional restrictions with the governor announcing a ban on dancing and games during gatherings of more than 10 people. Additionally, attendees are required to be seated and wearing a mask at all times unless they are actively eating or drinking.
