Nancy Pelosi has signed a bill that will provide funding to America’s national parks and monuments. On Thursday, the House speaker endorsed the legislation, which she said will advance environmental justice and create good jobs.

“As Speaker of the House, it is my great honor to enroll the Great American Outdoors Act,” she stated.

This came after President Trump called on Congress to pass that bill earlier this week. The act will fully fund national parks and pay off the maintenance backlog, which has accrued over the past 50 years.

“The bill honors our responsibility to be good stewards of our national, natural heritage. It is in the tradition of our country starting with Thomas Jefferson, the infrastructure bill. 100 years later, Teddy Roosevelt establishing the National Park Service. It is a critical investment in health and economic crisis at this time of COVID-19.” – Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House

The president is expected to sign the bill into law in coming days.
