Apple has committed millions of dollars to help combat racism amid ongoing national protests for racial equality.
On Thursday, CEO Tim Cook announced the $100 million “Racial Equity and Justice Initiative.”

Internally, the company will also hire and promote more underrepresented employees.
The CEO emphasized Apple is committed to being a force for change. Specifically, the initiative will focus on education and criminal justice reform.
“Beginning in the United States and expanding globally over time, the initiative will challenge the systemic barriers to opportunity and dignity that exist for communities of color, particularly for the black community, with special focus on issues of education, economic equality, and criminal justice reform.” – Tim Cook, CEO of Apple
The company will also continue building upon existing efforts, like working with historically black universities and other partners.
