President Trump is reportedly considering restricting travel from Brazil as the country is experiencing an increase in coronavirus cases.
The president announced possible travel restrictions from the South American country at a cabinet meeting Tuesday, adding that he doesn’t want travelers to infect Americans. Brazil is currently in third for its number of coronavirus cases behind the U.S. and Russia.
President Trump also confirmed his administration is sending aid to the country to assist with its efforts to combat the outbreak.
“I worry about everything, I don’t want people coming in here and infecting our people,” he stated. “…We’re helping Brazil with ventilators, we’re sending them ventilators.”
According to reports, the South American country is struggling to keep up with the growing number of COVID-19 patients and has exhausted much of its medical facilities.
“We’re sending a lot of people,” the president continued. “Brazil is having some trouble, no question about it.”
