Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) announced a message for the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis. In an interview this week, Cuellar implied it was suspicious Kamala Harris visited El Paso instead of the epicenter of the crisis hundreds of miles south.
Cuellar argued Harris would not get an accurate picture of the crisis without going deep into the Rio Grande Valley. After her visit, Cuellar went to the media to express his frustrations with the event.
“Even though we’re compassionate, we still have to enforce the law,” he asserted. “The law says that if somebody’s not supposed to stay here, unfortunately, we have to deport them. We cannot forget that we have to enforce the laws that are on our books.”
Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t even going to the border.

Cuellar even struck a direct blow to Harris by saying he has spent more than just a few hours talking to Border Patrol agents, which has offered him a deeper understanding of the problems. He urged the border czar to take the necessary time to sit down with city and county officials, landowners, and Border Patrol agents to really understand and support their needs throughout this crisis. The Texas lawmaker also expressed many Border Patrols agents questioned her decision to visit El Paso in comparison to the Rio Grande Valley.
Cuellar closed out his appearance by saying law enforcement doesn’t need pats on the back, but resources to enforce the laws.
