Two Washington D.C. police officers involved in the January 6 demonstration at the Capitol have pressed House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on issues related to the protest. Speaking to reporters after their meeting on Friday, Washington Metro Police Officer Michael Fanone and Capitol Hill Officer Harry Dunn said they asked McCarthy to denounce the Republicans who voted against the Gold Medal Bill.
The two officers also asked for the Republican lawmaker to publicly address the issues surrounding the demonstration with those members. Reports mentioned Fanone has been pushing for a meeting with McCarthy for months.

“I think it was received well. I might need some rest, as we all do,” Dunn expressed. “We just want to get better and we want justice, accountability, that’s what we’re looking for.”
The meeting comes amid the announcement that a House Select Committee will look into the January 6 event. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said the chamber will consider a resolution establishing the committee in the coming week.
