Florida’s economy is starting to reopen while surrounding states take a more wary approach. While taking to Twitter Monday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) shared video from a roundtable last week with health experts.
One of the doctors is a top figure from Stanford University who has been a vocal critic of shutdowns to fight the coronavirus. Despite a rise in infections on college campuses, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya believes its more beneficial for schools to reopen.
DeSantis agrees with the doctor on the notion that keeping everyone at home isn’t the best approach. The Florida Republican also questioned the role testing plays in the process.
I spoke with Dr. Bhattacharya, from Stanford Medical School, about the implications of PCR tests identifying non-infectious, dead virus. Are we quarantining hundreds of thousands of Americans who are not contagious? pic.twitter.com/dMuRcAClQX

Dr. Bhattacharya said people who have no symptoms yet test positive for the virus, aren’t necessarily infectious. However, the results are still used to enforce lockdowns nationwide.
