A 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody by armed officers at a Bristol train station early on Saturday, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Additionally, according to police, more human remains were discovered the day before at an address in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, and they are thought to be related to the remains discovered in the suitcases that were dumped close to Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge on Wednesday.
On Saturday morning, forensic investigators in blue suits and masks were visible working behind the cordon at the crime scene in Shepherd’s Bush, west London.
“The suspect will be taken to London for questioning later today,” police said in a statement. “Extensive inquiries are ongoing; however, at this stage, police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”
Police had previously named Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera as someone they wished to locate and speak to.
Wednesday, at around midnight, police were called to the famous bridge. The man had taken a taxi there, but he was already gone. The taxi had been seized, according to the police, and the driver was assisting them with their investigation.
Although the victims’ names have not yet been officially released, it is believed that both are adults. There is still an ongoing second post-mortem examination, but one autopsy was declared “inconclusive.”
