According to sources familiar with the situation, the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) new leadership team began the process of firing a large number of employees on Monday night in order to empty the committee’s ranks in preparation for taking the organization under the wing of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.

The newly elected RNC leadership has begun the process of eliminating 60 employees from the organization.

North Carolina Republican official Michael Whatley and Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, were chosen by RNC members last week to serve as chair and co-chair of the RNC. The new employees will be crucial in organizing support and funds for the general elections on November 5th.

Employees from the political, data, and communications divisions are anticipated to be removed by the RNC. There will be at least five senior staff layoffs, and contracts with third parties could be canceled as well.

According to the source, the situation is being described as an “absolute bloodbath.” The unnamed insider also stated that certain personnel in the data, communications, and political divisions would be let go as well.

The RNC’s monthly report to the Federal Election Commission, which was submitted on February 20th, indicates that the organization employed a minimum of 208 individuals in January.

Furthermore, the source claimed that the firings are part of a plan to ensure that the only employees remaining at the RNC are those who are loyal to the former president and the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement as he strengthens his hold on the party in the November presidential election.

“Chairman Whatley is in the process of evaluating the organization and staff to ensure the building is aligned with his vision of how to win in November,” the new RNC chief operating officer Sean Cairncross wrote in emails to the political, data, and communications teams. “During this process, certain staff are being asked to resign and reapply for a position on the team.”

The email further stated that staff members would lose their jobs at the RNC at the end of March if they decided not to reapply.

The RNC purge was expected for weeks within the committee as it became increasingly clear that Trump was aiming for the removal of previous RNC chair Ronna McDaniel. It occurred just days after Whatley and Lara Trump were unanimously voted in as the new RNC leaders on Friday.

Whatley also stated that the RNC would “be the vanguard of a movement that will work tirelessly every single day to elect our nominee, Donald J. Trump.”
