Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested on Thursday by Romanian police in an alleged human-trafficking probe.
The 36-year-old had skyrocketed to fame recently after videos of his views and opinions on current and social events started being shared around the internet. Tate is also an ex-martial artist who started his fighting career in 2005 and retired in 2013 after winning his second ISKA world title.
The controversial figure had previously been banned from all social media platforms due to his views, but was reinstated on Twitter after Elon Musk had become the new CEO.
Recently, Tate had been expressing that he is fearful for his safety, that he had been receiving mysterious phone calls and had to increase security around him.
This comes days after having to publicly refute a claim that he was dead, which was posted by Piers Morgan, whose account was reportedly hacked at the time the claim was posted.
More details on the arrest are expected to be released in the near future.
