Poll: Almost half of New Yorkers may leave due to crime

Almost half of New York City residents are considering relocating to other cities as violent crime in the Big Apple spirals out of control. That’s according to a new poll by Morning Consult, which found 40 percent of Manhattan residents and 48 percent of people living in other boroughs want to move out of New York.

The poll shows a whopping 94 percent of New Yorkers believe the city’s ruling Democrats have not done enough to tackle crime. This comes as New York Mayor Eric Adams said he’s considering using drones and other technology to fight criminals. However, New Yorkers don’t believe the situation would change for the better.

“New York City subway is in a state of emergency,” said Charlton D’Souza, President of Passengers United – New York. “Right now, we need Governor Kathy Hochul and the mayor and this chairman to demand that we have 200 state troopers in the subway.”

Reports also found many New York workers are considering quitting their jobs and relocating to other cities due to the lack of safety on public transport.
