Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said a Republican majority should convert every congressional committee into an oversight committee. In a recent Breitbart interview, the congressman noted committee chairmen shouldn’t be selected based on seniority or who best launders lobbyist money, but rather on their commitment to investigations.
Gaetz said an oversight-focused majority is in stark contrast to the Paul Ryan, former Speaker of House, vision of a Republican majority when the GOP would claim moral victory when passing bills that former President Barack Obama would veto.
“So, I don’t want to go through the performative legislative practice…Joe Biden’s not going to sign any bill of consequence that we’d pass and the Senate wouldn’t take it up anyway,” he explained. “So why not use the committee process to expose the truth to the American people and how these terrible choices the Biden administration is making is actually making their lives worse.”
When Republicans retake the majority in Congress, robust oversight of the Biden Regime must be our focus to save the country.

As a member of the Judiciary Committee, Gaetz believes nothing is more dangerous than the weaponization of the Justice Department against parents at school board meetings because it leads to “broad targeting.”
