House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for seemingly abandoning the American people amid the ongoing debt ceiling debate. In an interview on Sunday, McCarthy called Pelosi’s latest trip to Europe her “farewell tour.”
Pelosi traveled to Rome, Italy for the G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ summit to discuss the pandemic, national security and climate.
“In March 2020, the world watched sadly as Italy experienced the beginning of the worst COVID outbreak in Europe. We pray for every life lost here and in each of our nations,” she stated. “…As we do so, we stand united not only in grief, but in gratitude for the courage of Italy under Prime Minister Draghi, whose example helped rally the international community to strong, coordinated action and we know that, globally, much more needs to be done.”
Today, I addressed the Opening Ceremonies of the Pre-COP26 Parliamentary Meeting.
We are at a moment of great responsibility and therefore opportunity on the climate crisis. The G20 countries could, if we act boldly and with unity, mitigate the vast majority of climate change. pic.twitter.com/qndh89od37

McCarthy said she was a “lame duck” speaker who was in the U.K. last month when Democrats were working on reconciliation. He added she has traveled to Europe once again while the left was supposedly concerned about national debt.
McCarthy went on to say Pelosi has desecrated the institution of Congress.
