Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the first vehicles from the automaker’s new factory in Germany should roll out next month. The billionaire CEO welcomed guests to the fairground in Berlin on Saturday to announce the forthcoming Giga Factory.

Musk said the company hoped to begin production either next month or in December. He also noted reaching the desired volume of vehicle production was the difficult part of the process.

“What this factory is about is creating high-volume, affordable electric cars, and hopefully also battery packs, maybe solar,” he stated. “Generally, the overarching goal is to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.”

Tesla is still awaiting final approval from the German government to begin, but has received preliminary permits to start construction on the factory. The factory has faced setbacks due to its partial location in a water protection area.
