Dean Heller, a former Nevada senator, officially launched a bid for governor in the state. He announced his candidacy Monday, joining the crowded field of Republicans vying to unseat Democrat Steve Sisolak.

Heller reentered the political field three years after losing his Senate seat in 2018. In his campaign launch video, the Republican said he’s fed up with mask mandates, lockdowns and efforts to defund the police. Heller went on to say he’s sick of seeing abortion clinics open while churches and schools are closed.

Six other Republicans have already entered the race, including North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee and Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo.
