Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) sent resources to Louisiana to help with recovery efforts of Hurricane Ida. In a statement on Monday, Abbott said Texas deployed 132 firefighters, one helicopter with 14 crew members and 30 type one fire engines through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.

Abbott expressed Texas would never forget the kindness and generosity offered by the people of Louisiana during Hurricane Harvey and the Lone Star State was eager to support them in their time of need.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Ida has been expected to travel into the Gulf Coast with heavy rain, flooding and power outages in the east and southeast of Texas.
