Arizona’s attorney general called for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to be replaced. In a letter sent last week to Joe Biden, Mark Brnovich slammed Mayorkas by calling his tenure a “unmitigated disaster.”

Brnovich went on to ask Biden to fire and replace Mayorkas. The attorney general stressed the need for a DHS secretary who committed to the rule of law and protected American communities, which he argued Mayorkas failed to do either.

Brnovich has been one of many who have called for Mayorkas’s removal. Last week, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) filed articles of impeachment. The Arizona lawmaker highlighted the secretary’s abandonment of border security as well as the lack of enforcement of immigration law.

The call for Mayorkas’s removal came shortly after he admitted the Biden border crisis has worsened. He announced more than 200,000 migrant encounters in the month of July alone.
