GOP lawmakers have made demands for the Department of Homeland Security to explain why so many illegal immigrants have been able to breach the southern border. A group of Republicans, led by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), sent a letter to the DHS secretary on Monday.

The group of lawmakers asked the DHS to report how many migrants have entered the U.S. this year as well as how many were either deported or released. The Republicans also asked how many immigrants tested positive for COVID-19 and if they faced possible human rights violations in Biden’s migrant camps.

Estimates have shown more than one million migrants entered the U.S. illegally this year so far.

The Republicans went on to say they would pass a resolution of inquiry if the DHS ignored their letter.
