House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) announced he received the coronavirus vaccine after testing positive for antibodies. At the GOP doctors’ presser on Thursday, the Louisiana Republican said he chose to get vaccinated as an extra layer of protection against the delta variant.
“I just felt the time was right to do it,” said Scalise. “I’m happy that I got the vaccine, and I’ve always had high confidence in the process that was used to develop it.”
In 2020, Scalise strongly supported President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed initiative. He went on to highlight the protection antibodies can provide.
I got my first shot of the COVID vaccine on Friday, and I’m feeling good.
Democrats and the media scoffed when @realDonaldTrump said we’d have a safe and effective vaccine this year, but he kept his promise!
