White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki appeared to admit Joe Biden isn’t the person putting out his occasional written statements. During the press briefing Monday, she was asked what Biden thinks about the protests happening in Cuba.

Psaki referred the reporter to the statement made earlier in the day, but seemed to suggest the statement was written by other people on behalf of Biden. Her comments only fueled further speculation that he isn’t the one calling the shots in the White House.

Prior to this instance, Psaki admitted to reporters that the administration doesn’t recommend Biden answer impromptu questions.

“In fact, a lot of times we say ‘don’t take questions,’” she stated while being interviewed by CNN Senior Political Commentator David Axelrod. “But he’s going to do what he wants to do because he’s the president of the United States.”

The White House press secretary defended this by suggesting scheduled press conferences for specific topics allows the administration and Biden to become less distracted.
