From the New York Times to CNN, mainstream media has attacked both the American flag and Republicans this July Fourth. CNN commentator Ana Navarro took aim at Republicans on Sunday by calling them hypocrites for celebrating the Fourth of July while supporting President Trump.
The commentator added Republicans use the American flag as a prop, but don’t actually support what it stands for.
“Yet here they are wrapping themselves in flags, putting up pictures of the Statue of Liberty and wishing everybody a happy Fourth of July,” she claimed. “If you want to stand up for what this country stands for, stand up for democracy and denounce what happened on January 6.”
Dear Lord. Please let me withstand all the flag posts and “Happy 4th of July”, “I ❤️🤍💙 America” tweets from all the hypocrites who voted against a Commission to investigate an insurrection against the peaceful transfer of power, a bastion of our Constitution and democracy. 🇺🇸

Similarly, the New York Times attacked the American flag by calling their celebration and admiration controversial. The left-wing media outlet tweeted, “flying the American flag from the back of a pickup truck or over a lawn is increasingly seen as a clue, albeit an imperfect one. To a person’s political affiliation in a deeply divided nation.”
Taxpayer-funded National Public Radio was recently hit with criticism for a piece claiming the Declaration of Independence was hypocritical. In addition, an NPR contributor said Americas’ founding fathers tried to eradicate Native American populations in effort to steal their land.
In this thread of the Declaration of Independence, you can see a document with flaws and deeply ingrained hypocrisies.

Republicans have criticized the mainstream media by saying the Fourth of July and American flag should be about unification of Americans rather than divisive talking points. During a rally on Sunday, President Trump slammed the move by the mainstream media to condemn patriotism and the American flag.
Trump went on to say, “we will restore patriotic education to our schools and we will teach our children to love their country, honor our history and stand tall and strong for our great American flag.”
In addition, a recent survey out of North Dakota State University showed while 90 percent of conservatives report being proud to be an American, only 40 percent of liberals claim the same.
