Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) is rejecting legislation in the Ohio House that would ban mandatory vaccinations in the state.
At a press conference on Thursday, the governor said he would oppose the legislation in the hopes employers will push employees towards getting vaccinated. This comes as DeWine said vaccination rates have surged since the implementation of his vaccination lottery.

Despite the surge in vaccines, the governor is pushing for more private incentives to get vaccinated for those still holding out, comparing COVID vaccines to those for measles and mumps. In addition, Ohio’s Vax-a-Million lottery also includes full ride scholarships to Ohio public universities for those winners under age 18.
