Republicans are looking to make changes to their infrastructure plan amid fiery bipartisan meetings. According to reports on Tuesday, a group of GOP senators are preparing to reveal a new counteroffer to Joe Biden’s proposal.

Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) confirmed the GOP proposal will be “close to a trillion dollars.” During Tuesday’s briefing, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the upcoming GOP proposal is “progress.”

“Our view is that this can be a week of progress, including the the counteroffer, which we expect to get later this week,” she stated. “I’m not going to prejudge what that looks like, we’ll have to look at the nitty-gritty details…certainly them coming up and funding is progress.”

Last week, Biden administration staffers clashed with Republicans and rejected their first offer of a $568 billion proposal. In the meantime, GOP lawmakers are set to discuss their proposal at the White House on Thursday.
