Brick by brick construction is almost complete at LEGOLAND New York with the theme park nearing its grand opening. According to the park’s public relations manager on Wednesday, the LEGO-themed amusement park is in the final phases of development.

The LEGO-sized versions of iconic U.S. cities are nearing completion with the rest of the park containing an estimated 15,000 LEGO models.

Reports said the park is set to open in phases this summer while complying with social distancing restrictions.

“We are the first theme park to be built in the Northeast in decades and really I think particularly with the challenges in the last year, people are looking to get out,” Public Relations Manager Matt Besterman said. “They’re looking to have a safe and fun place to play.”

The New York park will be the largest LEGOLAND compared to the eight other parks around the world.
