Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) refuted Joe Biden’s calls for stricter gun control in the wake of recent shootings in Georgia and Colorado.
“Well number one, the idea of banning assault weapons I don’t think it has any chance of passing in the Senate,” Graham stated.
The senator told reporters on Wednesday that banning legal weapons will not solve the problem of violent crime.

Graham also introduced a bill to amend asylum and refugee programs, after it turned out the Colorado shooter was a Syrian immigrant. He said most of his colleagues on Capitol Hill support his stance on the matter.
“I would encourage Senator Schumer to bring up the assault weapons ban being proposed by President Biden and let us vote on it,” Schumer stated. “I think you’d get a majority of senators saying that banning the weapon is not going to solve the problem. I own an AR-15, I own it responsibly. ”
Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) have been pushing their bipartisan firearm safety bill since 2019, which would alert law enforcement of every individual who tries to buy a gun but fails a background check.
