Former President Donald Trump broke his silence on his impeachment trial acquittal and took aim at the GOP establishment.

In a statement released by his Save America PAC on Tuesday, the 45th President said, “the Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political ‘leaders’ like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm.”

Trump went on to slam the minority leader for losing the Senate in 2020 and not fighting hard for election integrity. He also took shots at McConnell’s family over their substantial Chinese business holdings.

This came after McConnell voted to acquit Donald Trump in the impeachment trial, but said he was responsible for the Capitol Hill breach.

“Former President Trump’s actions that preceded the riot were a disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty,” McConnell stated. “There’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day. No question about it.”

Donald Trump ended his statement with a plea to Republican voters, saying “this is a big moment for our country and we cannot let it pass by using third rate leaders to dictate our future.”

He also vowed to back MAGA primary challengers in the 2022 midterms.
