Congresswoman-elect Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) stresses the importance of a woman’s right to bear arms.

In an interview this week, the Republican asserted that guns serve as a woman’s equalizer against a potential ‘stronger aggressor.’ Boebert added the Second Amendment allows women to defend their right to life, as outlined in the Constitution.

This came amid backlash against a lawsuit that seeks to dissolve the NRA, which was filed by Democrat New York Attorney General Letitia James earlier this year.

“This year has shown us that they’re quick to take away even the police officers that they say it’s their job to protect us,” Boebert said. “You have women in Congress who shout ‘defund the police,’ [but] then demand extra security from Capitol Hill, police and in Washington D.C. I’ll have my concealed carry firearm permit and I will be my own security there.”

Earlier this year, the freshman congresswoman-elect came under fire when she kept her restaurant ‘Shooters Grill’ open, despite her state’s Democrat-led lockdown orders.

Her restaurant also heavily emphasizes her support behind the right to bear arms, which is a decision that has prompted backlash from some. However, Boebert said she and her staff encourage and love it when customers carry guns to express their constitutional rights.

In 2014, Boebert allowed open carry at her restaurant after she said a man was beaten to death right outside.

The Republican emphasized that most women are smaller than the average man, which makes it that much more important to have a gun for protection.

“I had waitresses that began to carry in my restaurant,” Boebert noted. “They all open carry now and ‘Shooter’s Grill’ was being called the safest restaurant in America, but that platform for the Second Amendment really developed advocacy for freedom.”

She added that she began to study the constitution and fell in love with it. “That’s what I’m here to preserve,” Boebert stated.

Recently, Boebert mentioned the left is “always talking about women’s rights,” but she can’t think of a better way to actively fight for those rights than to be able to practice the Second Amendment.

In the meantime, Boebert said she plans to carry a gun every day with her in Washington D.C. this week because she is less than a month away from being sworn into congress. She also noted most older Democrat-run cities have violent crime problems and she wants to protect herself.
