New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has said he would be “shocked” if the state’s beaches aren’t reopened by Memorial Day. On Friday, he noted state parks and golf courses were reopened last weekend, adding non-essential services are also under consideration.
According to the governor, the state is working on a six step “road to recovery,” which included keeping numbers trending in a downward direction, testing and economic recovery.

He credited the state’s residents for keeping within guidelines for New Jersey’s current state of recovery.

The governor’s comments came just days after he stressed more progress needed to be made before the state lifts restrictions.
New Jersey has recorded around 8,800 coronavirus related deaths.
